2006 Sale Colts

Founded in 1974, Quickstad Quarter Horses was originally located near
Hettinger, North Dakota.

The foundation of their broodmare band was carefully selected for foundation
breeding, speed and conformation. The original mares were daughters of
Jackstraw Jr. (TB), Steelmark (TB) by Depth Charge, Bay Leo by Leo,
Top Show by Top Deck (TB), Magnolia Bars by Three Bars and a race
winning granddaughter of Triple Chick. Within six years these original mares
had produced state and regional halter class winners and the North Dakota
State Champion HS heeling horse who went on to compete successfully at
the National HS finals rodeo under Danny Lambourn's guidance.

In 1981 a job transfer for Bob brought the Quickstads
to their current location near Sturgis, South Dakota. The
historic Bismarck to Deadwood Stage route borders
their ranch on the north. And the original wagon wheel
ruts can still be seen just west of the ranch house.
Shortly after their arrival in the Black Hills, a good friend, Rick Dunne,
introduced Bob and Jan to Ruby and Andy Dacar of Beulah, Wyoming.
Befriended by the Dacars, Bob and Jan made many trips to the Dacar's
mare pasture and were impressed by the quality of the mares and foals.
Later they would learn that the mares were strong in the ONO Ranch breeding
of Glen and Nora French. It seemed ironic as Bob's first quarter horse, foaled
when he was just 16, was sired by a French bred horse named French Beau
who was by Classy Jr. by Classy Bars and out of Centa Arrow by Texas Dan Fe.
Realizing that what looked good to Bob 15 years earlier was still riding and
winning for the Dacars, it didn't take them long to purchase Angel's Whisper,
a mare that would spend the next 14 years on the Quickstad Ranch.

Today, seven of the Quickstad mares are out of own daughters of Sir Beat an
NCHA point earner and sire of point earners used extensively in the
French/Dacar operations.

The fancy, robust foals that romp in the Quickstad pastures each spring are a
tribute to the vision of two great horsewomen, Nora French and Ruby Dacar.
